September Favorites – Beauty Edition

I feel like September flew by, don’t you agree? How is it October already?! Last month I had a few products that I was really loving, Let me tell you about them!

Dove Style + Care Strength & Shine Flexible Hold Hairspray – Well that was a mouthful! Despite the long name, this hairspray does exactly what I want with no undesired side effects. It has a relatively strong hold while leaving my hair soft and touchable for quite a while. I wish it was a little stronger but I’ll put up with it because this doesn’t leave my hair crunchy AT ALL! That is literally the worst part about hairspray, the crispiness. YUCK! Along with hold and touchability, this product smells amazing. It’s like perfume for your hair. What more could I ask for?

e.l.f Studio Prism Eyeshadow in Naked – This eyeshadow pallete is a little pricey for e.l.f at $10, but it is completely worth it! I am all about a neutral eye look, pretty much every day. I usually stick to matte’s but this shimmery brick of goodness brings my eye look to a whole new level! The shadows themselves are soft and extremely pigmented. I think for the quality of the shadow, $10 really is a bargain. There are a lot of times when e.l.f has site-wide promotions, I would say if that happens in the near future be sure to pick this up! Always search for a promo code before placing an online order.

The Body Shop Shower Gel in Honeymania – Last month I did a little shopping at The Body Shop and they had a buy 2 get 1 free deal going on. I knew I wanted to buy 2 tea tree skincare items, so I went on the hunt for my third free item. I decided to get the Honeymania Shower Gel because the smell was just so wonderful. It was not what you would expect something with ‘honey’ in the name to smell like at all! It was rich and floral-y, with a hint of honey sweetness. So lovely!
Getting this for free only made it better. Once again, The Body Shop (like e.l.f) is always doing online and in-store promotions. As I write this, they have a 40% off site-wide sale going on. Be sure to stock up!

L’Oreal Visible Lift Color Lift Blush in Pink Lift – I found this at Target on clearance and I could not resist. I think this product is aimed at an older crowd but I wanted to try it out anyway. First, the texture is unlike anything I’ve ever felt before. It’s springy yet solid, a cream yet powder… so confusing! It definietley took some getting used to, but now I really love it. It can be applied with your fingers, so it makes for a quick and simple application. Pink Lift is a really great natural looking color with a subtle amount of gold shimmer. Perfect for transitioning from summer to fall!

Alterna Caviar CC Cream 10-in-1 Leave-In Hair Perfector – I received this product in my September Ipsy bag and honestly just threw it into my sample drawer at first. I have so many leave-in product samples lying around that this one didn’t seem like anything special. I was wrong! I put this in my damp hair and let it air dry for about 10 minutes. Then I blow dry my hair using a paddle brush. Normally after blowdrying, I have to straighten my hair to get it to look presentable, but not when I use this! It leaves my hair feeling soft, smooth and moisturized. I think I may have to purchase the full size!

Wet n Wild MegaSlicks Balm Stain in Rico Mauve – Wet n Wild is such a hidden gem as far as drugstore brands go. Their eyeshadows are some of the best for the price and their lip products are fantastic. This balm stain is not exception, it gives great color payoff and stains really well. The color, Rico Mauve, is such a nice “my lips but better” shade. It gives just enough color to really enhance your makeup look but not enough to scream “I’M WEARING LIPSTICK!” These also are actually quite moisturizing, unlike some stains that just dry out your lips. The best part about these balm stains, is the price: $2.99! Less than three dollars! Seriously, run to the store now and pick this up. You won’t be disappointed.

Have you tried any of these products? Do you have any favorites from last month? Let me know down in the comments!
Stay tuned for my September Non-Beauty favorites next Wednesday!

  • I read that you were talking about getting samples from your sample drawer (I have one too!), and I wanted to share that I signed up for Walmart's Beauty Box last month. It was $5 and it arrives quarterly, so I thought I'd try ot out and see. I'm so happy that I signed up!! I got a few foundation samples, a mini perfume sample and a few other mini samples, but I also got a full sized Dove deodorant and a full sized lip gloss! It was totally worth the money. Here's the link, I'd love to see a blog post on your findings!
