October 2014 Ipsy Bag

Ipsy is a monthly subscription service that includes makeup and skincare samples. For $10/month you are sent a small makeup bag with 5 or 6 samples right to your door in a shiny pink envelope! To get products you want, you take a quiz to determine what products will be best for you.  It’s a great way to learn about new brands or just get little samples from brands you already know and love. I really suggest giving it a try if you want to break out away from your everyday products and give something new a try.
This month I got 5 products!
Nicole by OPI nail polish in “On a Gilt Trip” – This is the only full-size product I got this month and at first glance I was a little disappointed. I tend to like creme nail polishes better than glitter or shimmer but this is definitely unique. It is a matte shimmer! It goes on really nicely and dries completely matte. It’s definitely not for everyone but you could always put a shiny topcoat over it.
AYRES Body Butter in “Patagonia” – This body butter is quite small but it would be the perfect size to keep in your desk drawer or purse. It is very moisturizing and absorbs pretty quickly without leaving too much residue. The only thing I’m on the fence about is the scent, it is rosemary and jasmine scented, which are not usually scents I tend to like. It smells sort of medicinal or old lady-ish. I’ll use it in a pinch, but it’s certainly not my new favorite.
Model CO VolumEyes mascara – I can honestly say that I do not like this mascara so far. I just tried it and it did almost nothing to my eyelashes. I even tried a couple coats to try and build it up but still nothing. I’ve never used a Model CO product before but I think this mascara will steer me away from anything else they make.
Noyah lipstick in “Deeply in Mauve” – This lipstick is so small it’s cute! My first impression is this is much more purple on the lips than in the tube. It is a statement color, for sure! I doesn’t feel too drying and is pretty comfortable on the lips. I don’t even mind that it’s small because I will not be wearing it all the time and it’s not a color I would buy the full-size of. The only thing I’m not really a fan of is the smell, it smells like that makeup that’s made for kids. Yuck!
Epice Purifying Exfoliant – This is a decent sized sample when it comes to skincare, just enough to know if you like it. I tried it out and it is pretty good! It has a pretty generic scent and very small granules. It left my skin feeling soft but sort of tight and dry. I would definitely need a moisturizer after but it does what it claims to do: purifies and exfoliates. I wouldn’t go out of my way to purchase this but it’s good to have for travel!
